Job Overview

FBD requires a data analyst with strong business data, analytic and insurance skills to join a team of analysts within the Underwriting function. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious career orientated person to provide insights to support development of FBD’s strategic ambition.

Job Responsibilities

  • The role involves working on all aspects of the development, implementation, testing, analysis, interpreting, tracking and support of KPIs, reporting, and all business metrics.
  • Consult with the Product Managers in preparing and producing materials required for monthly product & pricing sessions.
  • Complete exploratory and ad-hoc data analysis, reporting and design of dashboards with a view to generating actionable and enabling data-led decision-making.
  • Track effectiveness of product change strategies to ensure that sales, growth, and profitability objectives are achieved.
  • Ensure all portfolio activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies,
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy by implementing rigorous quality control measures,
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills by understanding complex problems, breaking them down into manageable components, and applying analytical techniques to find effective solutions,
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on various underwriting and business projects.
  • Execute efficiency to achieve increase scale of reach to develop increase business insights, opportunity and risk analysis.

Education

  • Hold a relevant primary degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics, or a relevant numerate degree.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in data analytics, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, R, SQL, or similar.
  • Experience with visualization tools like Tableau, or similar platforms.

  • Advanced SQL knowledge and proficiency in a visualisation tool,
  • Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills, and attention to accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of general insurance products, budgeting and underwriting disciplines.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can work effectively independently or as part of a team and has an ability to work under pressure, achieve targets and meet deadlines,
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and balancing business timelines,
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills - ability to present complex ideas to business users in an easily understood user friendly format,
