About the Role

Deliver on growth objectives of motor schemes business through profitable underwriting of motor risks within agreed authority levels whilst developing key partner relationships.

The role will suit an underwriter with a strong understanding of motor products, sound underwriting instinct and understanding of core underwriting disciplines, with demonstrated ability to adhere to underwriting controls and standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Execution of Motor Schemes strategy to positively impact account performance, including risk level assessment and selection
  • Delivering planned growth and profitability results through the effective underwriting of cases within own Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA)
  • Develop positive relationships with scheme partners to develop business, provide quality service and use expertise and experience to support common business objectives
  • Work closely with Motor Class Lead to support achievement of portfolio objectives
  • Support a high-performance culture within the team and broader business through participation in training and internal Quality Assurance activities

Job Responsibilities

  • A Pragmatic decision maker with solid underwriting assessment and reasoning skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated record in building working relationships within team units and with other internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to clearly communicate and record rationale applied in decision making
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and an active desire to develop knowledge and experience
  • Ambitious and energetic in approach to their work and possess a positive outlook
  • Quality focused to provide excellent service to all customers and meet deadlines as required

Education

  • Achieved a professional insurance qualification qualified to a minimum level of Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP).

Experiences

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Insurance Underwriter
  • Proven track record of high performance standards.

  • Ambitious and energetic in their approach to their work and possess a positive outlook.
  • Strong technical understanding of Insurance products and Underwriting disciplines.
