Job Overview

 

The Solutions Architect, reporting to the Head of IT Architecture, is responsible for creating and maintaining end-to-end solution architectures across FBD’s predominantly on-premise environment, integrating enterprise platforms with SaaS services where appropriate.

The role will be responsible for ensuring solution architectures are secure-by-design, resilient, DORA compliant and aligned to FBD’s target enterprise and application architecture.

Job Responsibilities

  • Creating solution designs for secure, scalable and reliable solution architectures and presenting these to FBD’s Design Authority
  • Understanding end-to-end business and technical requirements and determining corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements in alignment with FBD security standards, regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Working hands-on in a highly collaborative way with cross-functional teams on projects, providing support to project teams to ensure the project is aligned with the overall target enterprise architecture and target integration architecture
  • Define application architectures and design patterns, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, reusability, scalability and maintainability
  • Actively supporting the development & enhancement of FBD IT Strategy, designing target states for technology architecture & operating model as needed
  • Facilitating the evaluation and selection of software/hardware product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and driving these through to delivery.
  • Promote collaboration and engagement across the team by facilitating knowledge transfer and ensuring improvement initiatives are documented and actioned

Job Responsibilities

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant experience.
  • Relevant architecture certification e.g. TOGAF certification, IASA Core Certification or equivalent)
  • Relevant technical certifications e.g. Microsoft 365, Azure

Experiences

  • 10 years + experience working in IT with 3+ years as a solution architect
  • Strong hands-on experience designing solutions in on‑premise environments with integration to SaaS platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft 365
  • Experience working with multiple integration patterns such as API-based integration and  event-based integration
  • Strong experience of architecture governance, architectural patterns, IT standards and IT controls (including IT risk management)
  • Experience working with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure preferred
  • Experience in the use of one or more architecture modelling tools using Archimate
  • Experience in dealing with both internal & external stakeholders, technical & non-technical.
  • Experience of working in the insurance industry or other regulated industry would be an advantage
