Job Overview
The Customer Pricing Manager provides leadership for customer pricing activities across all portfolios, contributing to building and executing a strategy for profitable growth. They lead the effective development and implementation of robust pricing models and produce analyses to track and provide recommendations to improve portfolio performance. This is a key role within FBD reporting directly to the Head of Pricing & Analytics.
Job Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Head of Pricing & Analytics this individual will be responsible for leading the further development of Customer Pricing within Underwriting at FBD.
- They will initiate, coordinate, prepare and perform actuarial analyses relating to portfolio price adequacy to inform tactical action and strategic direction.
- They will oversee the development and maintenance of propensity models and impact analysis models to forecast portfolio performance
- Informed by appropriate analytical analyses, they will develop new pricing structures and enhance existing ones in support of the Business Strategy.
- They will collaborate closely with the Underwriting and Portfolio Managers to inform strategic portfolio and segmental and individual pricing decisions.
Job Responsibilities
- Working closely with the UW Change team they will lead the design, testing and maintenance of system based pricing models and tools.
- They will champion data quality and enhance business insights through more effective use of data and analytics.
- Working closely with the Governance team and the Head of Pricing & Analytics, they will design and monitor a control environment to ensure customer pricing processes and procedures are robust.
- They will ensure assistance is provided to internal and external governance stakeholders such as Underwriting Governance, Regulators, Auditors and internal control functions, on any queries concerning Customer/Market Pricing.
- They will contribute to the development of the learning & development programme and facilitate training to Underwriters and the rest of the business on pricing techniques.
- They will provide support to projects and change programmes - taking business lead or other role as appropriate.
- They will lead a team of pricing actuaries, actuarial trainees, university interns and analysts including performance management, goal setting and creation of individual development plans.
Education
- An experienced and qualified actuary, possessing robust technical knowledge of general insurance pricing techniques and processes and analytical systems which support same.

- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
- Strong analytical skills & decision-making ability and ability to plan and co-ordinate with business partners on a collaborative basis both within the pricing team and within the wider underwriting function
- Strong IT skills in particular Excel, SAS/SQL, and actuarial software skills (e.g. EMBlem, ResQ, Radar)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with professional designation
