Job Overview

Reporting to the Head of Product in the Underwriting function, the Commercial Underwriting Manager has responsibility for the proactive management of the commercial portfolio to deliver against its business plan.

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the FBD team, to shaping our Commercial Insurance proposition and secure our position as favoured Insurer to Irish SME businesses.

Job Responsibilities

  • You will be product owner for Commercial products assuming interest and developing perspective of all aspects of product in portfolio affecting, pricing, customer outcomes and growth.
  • You will ensure that commercial products are suitable to meet the needs of customers and are compliant in all aspects.
  • You will lead Underwriting Product Oversight and Governance implementation across Commercial Product suite.
  • You will be a lead contributor to annual budgeting / strategy / initiative planning.

Job Responsibilities

  • You will utilise and develop MI to ensure, performance and outcomes are being tracked and acted upon.
  • You will manage acceptance criteria and decision collateral with the boundaries of Underwriting governance framework to support achievement of business strategy.
  • You will supervise the control environment in Commercial underwriting ensuring quality standards are achieved and championing improvement and efficiencies.
  • Support underwriting teams with clear portfolio plans, and with quality underwriting and risk appetite guidance.  

Education

  • Professional Insurance Qualifications - ideally to Associateship level or higher.

Experiences

  • A minimum of 5 years management experience in Insurance Industry with deep understanding of principles of portfolio management and marketing of commercial Insurance products.
