Job Overview


We have an exciting opportunity for an application operations engineer to join our IT team. You will be the driving force behind our Applications Operations team, working closely with Application Development, Batch Environments and Platform teams to implement and maintain comprehensive monitoring solutions.

You will play a key role in triaging, troubleshooting and resolving production incidents as well as focusing on preventive and proactive maintenance of our application stack. 

Job Responsibilities

•    Continuously optimize JAMS workflows to improve efficiency, reliability, and resource utilization.
•    Maintain accurate documentation of Batch configurations, workflows, and procedures.
•    Coordinate with a third-party Managed Service providers to ensure daily operations align with FBD's standards and needs.
•    Demonstrated experience with performance management and monitoring tools (we are currently using Splunk, Zabbix, Oracle Enterprise Manager and Monitis, however the stack is likely to expand in the future).
•    Able to interpret error messages from OS, Middleware stacks, Performance Management tools and applications to identify root cause and to restore service.
•    Ability to independently triage highly complex system and application incidents.
•    Experience with Linux, Windows, SSH and scripting skills.
•    Platform Admin experience – MS Teams, O365 Admin.
•    Comfort in dealing with executive management technical support duties.

Education

•    ITIL V3 Foundation Certification (familiarity with change management, release management, event, incident management and problem management).

Experiences

•    Good understanding of System Integration, Batch Operations, Disaster Recovery, Backups.
•    Strong demonstrable experience in Enterprise I.T. Operations.
•    Exposure to tools and technologies such as JAMs, Jenkins, ServiceNow. 
•    Familiar with working in a Linux and Windows environment.
•    Ability to evaluate and influence new application requirements for operations best practices.
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse corporate environment.
•    Excellent people manner, liaise and work with executive management support.
•    Understanding typical applications design and dependencies including good understanding of the underlying database and infrastructure technologies.
•    Understanding of complex processes and dataflows.
•    Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills.
•    Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Confluence, Jira.

Competencies

•    Demonstrated knowledge of server, storage, network, server virtualization & public cloud technologies (especially Microsoft Azure Paas/SaaS).
•    Ability to understand and operationally manage enterprise scheduling tools (e.g. JAMS).
•    Ability to evaluate and influence new application requirements for operations best practices.
•    Creation and maintenance of a viable and relevant knowledge base (Confluence).
•    Comfortable presenting issues to management as well as peers, both written and verbally in a concise fashion.
